Beim Themenfeld „Nachhaltigkeit“ waren lange vor allem Fragen der Umwelt, der Mobilität, des Ressourcenverbrauchs und der Energieeffizienz von Bedeutung. Dies ungeachtet dessen, dass es bereits seit 1992 verschiedene Bestrebungen gibt, auch die kulturelle Dimension und die Bedeutung von Kultur für die Nachhaltigkeit herauszuarbeiten. Nun nimmt das Thema noch mal Fahrt auf und dies nicht nur im aktuellen Unesco-Weltbericht: „Kultur ist die DNA einer Stadt und muss integraler Bestandteil von Stadtentwicklungsstrategien sein“, so Karin v. Welck, Vorstandsmitglied der Deutschen Unesco-Kommission.
Was heißt das und wie kann das konkret aussehen?
Auf einer Tagung am 22. März 2018 in Koblenz wollen wir uns mit dieser Thematik theoretisch und praktisch befassen. Dr. Oliver Parodi und Davide Brocchi sind seit vielen Jahren in diesem Themenfeld unterwegs: Oliver Parodi theoretisch auf dem Hintergrund von Nachhaltigkeitsforschung und Stadtentwicklungsplanung und praktisch im Karlsruher Stadtteil Ost mit dem „Quartier Zukunft – Labor Stadt“, Davide Brocchi ist als Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaftler theoretisch befasst mit dem Thema „Nachhaltigkeit als kulturelle Herausforderung“ und praktisch mit dem Projekt „TDGL- Tag des guten Lebens“ – einem seit 2013 jährlich durchgeführten partizipativen Stadtteilprojekt in Köln.
