Gemeinsam mit Vertretern der Mercator-Stiftung haben am 29. März 2017 Bildungsministerin Stefanie Hubig und Kulturminister Konrad Wolf im Rahmen einer Auftaktveranstaltung in Mainz den Startschuss für das Programm „Generation K- Kultur trifft Schule“ gegeben.
Im Rahmen des Projektes werden weiterführende Schulen gezielt auf ihrem Weg zu einem eigenen Kulturkonzept unterstützt. Dabei bringen sich in der kulturellen Bildungsarbeit erfahrene Künstlerinnen und Künstler mit Ideen und Projekten in das Programm ein. Begleitend wird ein Qualifizierungs- und Fortbildungsangebot entwickelt, über das sich die an den Schulen zusammenarbeitenden Lehrkräfte sowie Künstlerinnen und Künstler weiter professionalisieren können und sollen. Zusätzlich wird eine neue und landesweit tätige Vermittlungs- und Beratungsstelle für kulturelle Bildung eingerichtet, an die sich alle wenden können, die mit dem Thema kulturelle Bildung befasst sind – also Künstlerinnen und Künstler, Kulturinstitutionen, Schulen und außerschulische Einrichtungen wie z.B. Jugendzentren. Ihre Aufgabe ist es, Kunstschaffende und ihre Kooperationspartner bei der Planung und Umsetzung von Kulturprojekten zu beraten, zu begleiten und zu qualifizieren.
